About the SSSC

We are the regulator for the social service workforce in Scotland.

Our work means the people of Scotland can count on social work, social care and early years services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce.

Codes of Practice

The Codes of Practice for Social Service Workers and Employers (the Codes) set out the behaviours and values expected of social service workers and their employers.

SSSC Council and committees

The Council, made up of a Convener and Members, oversees our work.

Workforce data

We have a responsibility for workforce data and intelligence on the social service workforce in Scotland.

Our aim is to produce workforce data, information and intelligence for employers and other stakeholders that support the development of the sector.

SSSC Involving People

The plan is in recognition of the important contribution that people with lived experience of social services and caring make to our work.

Make a complaint about us

We try to provide the best possible service in all areas of our work but accept that sometimes something may go wrong.

When this happens we’d like to know so we can try to put things right.

Consultations

One of the ways we engage with our stakeholders is by consulting them when we are planning to change the way that we do something.

Find out more about our current consultations, previous consultations and our responses to consultations.

Registration is changing

We are creating a register for the future. This is a major piece of work covering three interconnected projects: our Register, qualifications and skills and the SSSC Codes of Practice.

Our organisational structure

The Council oversees the organisation. The Council is made up of a Convener and nine members who are appointed by Scottish Ministers.

Find out more about the SSSC

This video explains who the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is and what we do.

Did you know there are around 200,000 people working in social services across Scotland? This means that one in every 13 people employed in Scotland currently work in social services.

Most people working in social services in Scotland will be registered with the SSSC. Some won't be registered yet but will over the next few years.

If you require text transcripts of any of our videos, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
